Trygve Wakenshaw and Barnie Duncan

Dec 5th 19h00

Dec 8th & 9th 15h00

Picture the most mundane place imaginable descending into a world of absurdist fantasy. That’s what physical comedians Trygve Wakenshaw and Barnie Duncan have created for their show, Different Party.

Business drones Grareth Krubb and Dennis Chang whittle away the minutes in the barren office of Ruck’s Leather Interiors, patiently waiting for the phone call that may or may not give them something to actually do. In between the drudgery of the 9-5, the minutiae of office existence are transformed into incredible slapstick as these two clown and comedy performers come together to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Dialogue is minimal, but jokes are plentiful, in this extraordinary celebration of the banal.

Created and performed by: Trygve Wakenshaw and Barnie Duncan

Duration 90 minutes

Age recommendation +7 yrs.

★★★★“Finely-honed silliness” – David Pollock, The Scotsman

"The performance is perfect... Strange slapstick joy. You will see nothing like this at the festival" – Steve Bennett, Chortle

★★★★“A howlingly funny, exquisitely performed hour of office-set slapstick from two of New Zealand’s most exciting comic talents” – The Telegraph

★★★★"Different Party is difficult to describe in a way that makes any sense.” – The West Australian

Luciano Rosso and Alfonso Barón

Dec 6th 15h00

Dec 7th and 8th 19h00

In an empty locker room two men play with movement, an analogue radio and tiny shorts. A raw, playful and funny hour interspersed with competitiveness and camaraderie as well as seduction and sabotage. The athletic bodies of Luciano Rosso and Alfonso Barón move fluently from wrestling to dance, acrobatics to physical comedy in an irresistible distortion of the expectations of manhood.  Poyo Rojo have toured 9 years extensively across Latin America, visited France, UK and Spain, and now introducing their work to Finnish audience for the first time. Not to be missed!

BLUESHIFT

Dec 4th 19h00 Dec 8th 22h00

Dec 9th 18h00

Blueshift is an intergalactic tale of solitude and alienation. Whether it’s your first day of school, or at a new job, or in a new country, arriving somewhere alien or as an alien is frightening and exciting in different measures. Inspired by traditional Russian clowning, Blueshift transforms those childlike physical proportions and joyful silliness into an astronaut of ambiguous origins. Like the clown, the astronaut is naive, ridiculous, curious, and funny; not necessarily the best qualities for survival on an uncharted planet somewhere in the universe.

Blueshift is an experimentation of classical and contemporary clowning and an investigation into identity. The performers and creators are anonymous to help question the importance of identity, and so the show itself exists like the astronaut; alone and independent.

Dec 9th 17h00

A performance about loneliness. The puppet man Antero starts over in a new empty space. There he can be exactly the way he is and there won't be any fuzz. But he needs someone to dance with! Perhaps it can be a couple of juggling balls? Perhaps a girlfriend or something….

Frida Odden Brinkmann is a juggler and circus artist; with 1 1/2 she combines puppetry and juggling into a curious solo performance.

Receptionists I Bambu

Inga Björn and Kristiina Tammisalo

Dec 4th and Dec 8th 20h30

Dec 7th 18h00

A spinoff show from Chameleon, these two receptionists are fast-talking smooth moving professionals in the hospitality industry. They speak multiple languages, none of which you can understand, and have an almost pathological fear of their customers.

Impressively silly and exceptionally charismatic, Inga and Kristiina have a unique and hilarious chemistry, which makes the whole experience delightfully bonkers. The aesthetically pleasing performance is strongly physical, unconventional and hilarious, suitable for all age groups.

Creation and direction: Inga Björn & Kristiina Tammisalo
